Wayne just got back from refinishing his parents floors in San
Francisco. They had very old carpet, and he was able to pull up and sand and finish the red oak parquet with OSMO non toxic finish. They have lived in this house since 1949!

Reclaimed Red Oak - Barn Wood with NON Toxic OSMO Finish

This beautiful wood has been reclaimed from barns back East.
It was rough sawn in different widths, and is full of character.

Installing around the existing fireplace was a challenge, but with
patience, and experiece we were able install so it looks like the wood was layed first and contours the rough edges of the fireplace rocks.

Sealed with a low VOC Safecoat. Beautiful!
The wood is expensive though (over $10.00 sq ft), because it takes more labor in
reclaiming wood. Reclaimed wood tends to be more expensive
than FSC, but FSC is totally green and an environmental good choice.

The oak floors are beautiful! We are thrilled and couldn't have imagined them looking so good. OSMO really brings out the richness in the wood, and perhaps, FSC wood is just nicer, too :)! We were able to move back in after the sanding and finishing, with our toddler, and not worry about toxic fumes!!! That is a great feeling. Everyone worked efficiently and there was very little dust! Hardwood Floors....To Stain or Not to Stain ?

Here is White Oak (mixed Width install) sanded with no

stain, and then with an OSMO Stain 3 parts antique to 1 part Tobacco. The grain in the White Oak really pops when stained. Many people think you have to stain... no so.
It's all a personal choice.

I want to thank you again for your excellent (and patient !) phone coaching through my Osmo application trials. At this point we just couldn't be happier with this beautiful floor. About 1/3 of the old floor was too stained to be saved so our contractor replaced it. (The picture is a bedroom with the old floor.)

The Osmo has changed and mellowed and become much richer looking just in the few weeks since I put it on. And it seems to be very tough.Nothing seems to phase it- no stains or spots - and the repair to scratches is everything that is advertised, absolutely simple and invisible.

What a great product!

That we are now applying ZERO VOC OSMO Professional Oil Finish. It's the same durable finish as the Polyx Oil, but without any solvent!. Here Wayne is applying a first coat. No smell!

This is truely a earth friendly green product for floor finishing.

Braz Cherry Finished

After sanding and fill, were now ready for the
1st coat of OSMO Polyx Oil.

After removing carpet, and particle board build up.
We had to install ply to increase subfloor
to at least 3/4 of and inch to nail new wood into.

One of our jobs for this week is install Eco Timber Brazilian Cherry and site finish with OSMO Polyx Oil.

First Step was to remove particle board build up that was under carpet.

Surfaces Convention Las Vegas

Last day at the convention. Did you know that large commercial

hotels and shops with wood floors used OSMO because they

have the ability to renew the finish in sections, as opposed

to having to sand the entire floor. Harrods in London for

example.

OSMO Germany & UK with LeBlanc at Las Vegas

Wayne is down in Las Vegas this week working at the Surfaces Convention with the makers of OSMO from Germany and UK and Environmental Home Center from Seattle. Notice the Polka Players in on the side. Lots of fun, and info on OSMO. Did you know that Oil/Wax products are used on more than other finishes on hardwood floors in Europe.

Not sure why anyone would paint a beautiful wood floor, but
these floors are being recovered. It takes a bit more work to remove the paint, but well worth it.

Strip & Wax

Today Cecilio works on stripping and waxing in downtown Seattle
Architect office. Nice and Shiny that's the way they like it.

AFTER Clean & Coat Service

Our Clean & Coat Service is great for rentals and folks selling property that just want to brighten up the floors. There must be finish on the floor to do this service. Last for 2 to 3 years depending on traffic.

Flush Mounted Vents

Flush Vents make for a dressed up complete look. Did you know that you can have these vents installed in your existing floor when you go through a refinishing.

Wayne works in the shop coating Madrona Treads. Madrona from Environmental Home Center is FSC certified.

Refinish before you Move In!

If your going to be refinishing within a couple of years it might be a good idea to refinish before you move into a new house so you don't have to logistically move all the furniture out again. Here Wayne and Luvin put the final coat on Julie's new house before she and Joe move in.

Vida Grandis & Liptus Install

Install Vida Grandis 1500 sq ft + these pretty Liptus stairs. Had to remove carpet, tackless, and build up in an old Crown Hill Residence. It was a challenge to get all the floors to one level. Installed New FSC Vida Grandis from Environmental Home Center and finished with OSMO Polyx Oil. The Vida Grandis is a softer wood, and takes more effort in sanding to get all swirl marks out. You can not currently buy Vida Grandis treads, but the closest would be Liptus which is what these are. Rich red tones in both woods, with more character in Vida Grandis than Liptus.
